  1. This is the newsletter for the Northern Virginia APBA Baseball League

    Commissioner’s Corner

As June opens, STE bestrides the league like a colossus, smiting all and sundry, wreaking havoc and dismay. It is Sterling Ragnarok and we the league are merely humble field peasants, cowering behind our mounds of damp, barren soil while the monster terrible skulks upon its way.

In other news, there's actually a good race going on in the Coastal. DEL and ROS are virtually tied at the top with surprise OAK sniffing at their heels. One wonders if DEL will get in the mandatory 40 by the end of the month, so that we will have a clearer picture of that division.

I think whoever trades more effectively in the Coastal will emerge the winner there. And speaking of trades, there were none for May. Not too surprising given that MLB has yet to resume play. As of this Corner, the league and players have exchanged proposals, with both sides aiming to resume somewhere around late June to mid-July. I'm still hopeful we will have cards for next year though.

Jef will do his usual recap of how each team did in May, and what it will show is that the Druids were 14-2, matching our best ever streak of 16 games. As good as we were in May balances how bad we were in March/April. Who are the Druids really? I still don't know.

Has anybody been watching the KBO on ESPN? Not all that compelling, though I am warming to the notion of cheerleaders

Anyway, this is the time of year when typically people tend to slack off in the game playing. Try to maintain your pace of play if you can, leisure travel will still be limited, etc.

    Stay safe!
