Subject: Google Hangouts/Chat and Dice Rolling
Hey Everyone,
-- Short version: Keep rolling dice as you have until it stops working. Hopefully we won't run into any issues.
Long version:
I've had a few questions about Google Hangouts, so I'll try to do my best with what I can figure out.
1. Everything seems to be working for now, but that may change.
2. Google hangouts is shutting down eventually. No one is sure when, but it seems to be by the end of this year.
3. Google Chat will take its place. Chat has some dice rolling functionality but not everything we're used to. Specifically you can type "/roll" and it will roll a 6 sided die, but you can't do our normal "roll 2d6" command.
4. Steve and I are looking into other options that are easy to use, shared between two players and don't have random number issues.
In other words, I don't have any answers right now so hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. If you find dice rolling stops working, try logging in through GMail, Google Hangouts or some other hangouts backed tech. Yes Bart, I know that guidance sucks but take what you can get.
And if you have a dice roller you'd recommend let me know so we can take a look.
